About the Event

We invite you to join us for a workshop exploring the works of Georgia O’Keeffe through the medium of watercolor. We will begin with by looking at and discussing O’Keeffe’s watercolor paintings, focusing on O’Keeffe’s uses of color, blending, and paint application. Participants will then be given an introduction to watercolor application and techniques that they can apply in creating their own paintings. All levels of experience are welcome. Materials needed for the class include: watercolor paints, round paintbrush, and watercolor or drawing paper.

Instructor Devon Burke recently returned to Santa Fe after years away in Worcester, Massachusetts. She earned an MFA from Boston University in Art Education with a concentration in Art Therapy practice in the art classroom, and a BFA in Art Education from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Devon taught art for eight years in Massachusetts public schools, and has taught beginning courses in painting to adults. Her main media of study is watercolor, specifically small landscape and plein air painting. Devon enjoys the delicate nature and transparency of watercolor, and has a strong passion for sharing her love of it with others.
