About the Event
Join artist Roland van Loon in celebrating the launch of his brand new website,
www.rolandvanloon.art, and the grand reopening of the Roland van Loon Studio Gallery
on Friday March 26 from 6 pm to 9 pm at 612 Agua Fria Street, Santa Fe.
Born in Holland and raised in Waianae, Hawaii van Loon's innate artistic talent guided his young
adult life, bringing him around the world. Beginning with a scholarship to the University of Hawaii,
winning the Ford foundation traveling grant, a residency at the Vermont Studio Center, and eventually
exhibiting his work in Santa Fe, NM. van Loon was introduced to and quickly fell in love with the fervid
art of Flamenco.
Well known for his oil paintings depicting the passion, movement, and stories of Flamenco in Santa Fe,
van Loon's dance paintings live on the walls of local landmarks, El Farol and The Cowgirl. His Vincente
At El Farol has been a part of the national exhibit, Flamenco: From Spain To New Mexico and is currently
on display in California.
Today, Roland’s work questions the impact of the uncertainty of the pandemic. The events of the
last year have led his work to become more introspective, a hiatus from the simple joys of life
and a reckoning of the subconscious. Using animal symbols, tattoo symbols, and his
understanding of culture, he seeks to unite his personal journey with that of humanity, finding
resolution in an ever maddening world through art.
The new show opens Friday the 26th at Roland’s studio gallery on Agua Fria Street and
features brand new paintings and collectible fine art prints.
