DIANA MOORE, solo exhibition Textures, opening at Nüart Gallery on April 29th.
Diana Moore is a sculptor inspired both by ancient figurative sculptures from around the world, and also the bold and colorful patchwork stretches of land made visible through the use of contemporary technologies. Moore is well known for her series of monumental Justice sculptures which reside at the entrance to several federal courthouse buildings across the United States.
Moore’s newest series, Textures, is a continued exploration of the manner in which the female is seen through her sculptures, vessels, and her purse series. “As an artist, I wanted to project a stronger, more self-possessed image of women, given that for centuries, male artists have dominated the manner in which the female is seen.” Moore writes. “The monumental public images that I made were in part about seeking within myself these qualities.
