Adobe Gallery announces the celebration of its 45th anniversary
Adobe Gallery is pleased to announce that it will begin its 45th year of operation on Sept 8, 2021. Proudly displaying a wide range of Native American art, its collection is comprised of historic and contemporary Southwest Indian Pueblo pottery, Native and Western Paintings, Hopi Kachina dolls, Navajo textiles, baskets, and more. Adobe Gallery is honored to help preserve the legacies of countless Native artists by sharing their work with a global audience.
Alexander E. Anthony Jr., the gallery’s owner, was smitten with Pueblo artwork from the moment he laid eyes on it. In 1956, while
working in New Mexico as a Nuclear Engineer for the United States Air Force, Mr. Anthony purchased his first Pueblo pot—a blackware bowl by Maria Martinez. As his interest grew, a
collection began to form, and in 1976 a small gallery was born.
Mr. Anthony (pictured at left) fully immersed himself in its operation and has come to be known as one of the most reputable and knowledgeable
dealers of Native American artwork. Over the years, the gallery expanded and eventually relocated to Santa Fe, growing from
humble beginnings into a valuable resource for serious collectors of Pueblo artwork. Adobe Gallery is located at 221 Canyon Road.
